Handwritten copies of Kirkland's journal, 16 Nov. 1764-2 May 1765, detailing his activities as a missionary to Native Americans, especially the Oneida, and his journal of a tour to the Seneca, 23 Sept.-25 November 1788; and photocopies of letters, 1791-1795, mostly from Kirkland to Timothy Pickering, special government agent on missions to the Indians. There is one letter from Kirkland to Henry Knox, Secretary of War, regarding Kirkland's fears of an Indian war. The 1788 diary was copied by O.H. Marshall at the New York State Library in Albany, and donated to the Buffalo Historical Society.
